She married Don Tiburcio Hilario, a lawyer, who with his lawyer-brother Vicente, defended the rights of the poor in Pampanga whose lands has been stolen by the friars. She assisted her husband and her brother-in-law, Vicente, in their work.

Her husband and brother-in-law were arrested from subversion and sent to Siasi, Sulu and Balabac, Palawan. Because she could not join the, she helped by regularly sending them whatever they needed, i.e., news about Pampanga.

During a search in their house in Manila by Spanish authorities, she secretly ordered her stepdaughter and niece to destroy revolutionary papers which she kept.

At the height of the revolution in Pampanga and Tarlac, she helped nurse and feed the wounded and sick rebels, and distributed donations to the soldiers' families. It was around this time that this house was burned by Spanish forces.

During the Filipino-American War, she tried to join her husband and other relatives flee from the pursing American forces towards northern Luzon. Her husband was eventually arrested and was persuaded to swear allegiance to the American flag.
